Data-Driven Digital Pedagogy: Applying Big Data and Learning Analytics
About the Book
This book will examine the transformative potential of data-driven approaches in educational settings, focusing on the practical applications of big data analytics and learning analytics to enhance various aspects of education. The content of this book will be structured to cover the integration of cutting-edge technologies, including big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT), into educational frameworks. Readers will gain insights into innovative strategies for collecting, analyzing, and applying educational data to promote improved decision-making, personalized learning experiences, and optimized administrative processes.
The book will begin with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of big data and learning analytics, providing a comprehensive overview of their roles and significance in modern education. Subsequent chapters will present detailed case studies and real-world examples demonstrating how these technologies are being utilized to tailor educational experiences to individual student needs, thereby enhancing learning outcomes and engagement. The chapters in this book will also explore the use of data analytics in monitoring and predicting student performance, identifying at-risk students, and implementing timely interventions to support their success.
In addition to student-centered applications, this book will address the broader institutional benefits of big data and learning analytics. Chapters will cover optimizing resource allocation, improving curriculum development, and streamlining administrative operations in educational institutions. The book will also discuss the ethical considerations and challenges associated with the use of big data in education, including data privacy, security, and the need for equitable data practices. This book will provide a balanced mix of theoretical insights and practical applications and will aim to equip educators, researchers, and policymakers with the knowledge and tools needed to leverage analytics for driving educational innovation and excellence.

About the Editors
Dr. Eriona Çela is a distinguished academic currently serving as a Full-Time Assistant Professor at the University of New York Tirana, where she is a member of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences in the Department of Psychology. She earned her Ph.D. in Teaching Methodology of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) from the University of Bari "Aldo Moro" in Italy, enhancing her extensive background in language education, which includes earlier degrees in English Language and Law from the University of Tirana and Business Academy College in Albania. Dr. Çela's research interests are broad and interdisciplinary, focusing on Big Data Analytics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Teaching Methodology, ESP, Academic Writing, Higher Education, Plagiarism, and European Integration among others. She is well-versed in teaching a range of subjects, including Academic Writing, ESL, Business English, Law, and Legal English. She also has significant expertise in translating legal, business, and educational documents. Her academic experience spans several respected institutions, including previous roles as an Assistant Professor at the University of Luarasi, University of Elbasan "Aleksandër Xhuvani", University of Tirana, and University of Durrës "Aleksandër Moisiu". In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Çela has held significant administrative positions within the Albanian Ministry of Education and Sport, contributing to integration, coordination, and project feasibility. Dr. Çela is active in the academic community as a member and managing editor of various editorial boards, including those for the European Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and the International Journal of Risk and Contingency Management. Her contributions to conferences and scholarly journals are numerous, underscoring her commitment to advancing research and practice in her fields of expertise. She also brings practical insights into her teaching and research from her experiences as a trainer and higher education expert involved in quality assurance and educational reforms in Albania. This rich background informs her ongoing contributions to academic discussions and policy-making in education, both in Albania and internationally.
Assoc. Prof. Narasimha Rao Vajjhala is working as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the University of New York Tirana, Albania. He had previously worked as the Chair of Computer Science and Software Engineering programs at the American University of Nigeria. He is a senior member of ACM and IEEE. He is the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the International Journal of Risk and Contingency Management (IJRCM). He is also a member of the Risk Management Society (RIMS), and the Project Management Institute (PMI). He has over 23 years of experience teaching programming and database-related courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels in Europe and Africa. He has also worked as a consultant in European technology firms and has experience participating in EU-funded projects. He has completed a Doctorate in Information Systems and Technology (United States); holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and Applications (India), and a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Information Systems (Switzerland).
Prof. Dr. Rajasekhara Mouly Potluri is an accomplished professor of Management/Marketing with thirty years of industry/teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels in various universities. He has taught marketing and management courses in Ph.D., EMBA, MBA, MS (Management), and BBA programs, where he has utilized his industry and consultancy experience to enrich the classroom dynamics. Dr. Raj earned his Ph.D. in Management/Marketing from Shivaji University in India and held four Master's degrees in Business Administration (Marketing), Commerce (Banking), Philosophy (Human Resources), as well as an MBA in Islamic Marketing from the International Islamic Marketing Association in the U.K. He has published and presented more than ninety research articles, book chapters, case studies, and talks in internationally ranked peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus, ABDC, SSCI, and KCI and International Conferences. Dr. Raj has won eleven Best Research Paper Awards and ten Academic Service Excellence Awards in different International Conference presentations in Egypt, South Korea, Malaysia, and UAE. He won the Best Professor and Researcher of the Year Award in 2015 and the Best Visiting Professor Award in 2013 from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTUK) in India Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) in Kazakhstan, respectively. He has extensive teaching and research experience in multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environments in India, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates. His research interests are Marketing, Islamic Marketing, CSR, HRM, Organizational Behavior, and Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Philip Eappen is an Assistant Professor of Healthcare Management at Cape Breton University. He is also a Director of Clinical Services and Transition to Community at the Breton Ability Center. With over a decade of experience in hospitals and healthcare management operations across different continents, Dr. Eappen is a seasoned professional. Before joining Cape Breton University, he taught at the University of Toronto, the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and Fanshawe College. He previously worked as a director of health services and chief administrator of healthcare operations at the American University of Nigeria. Additionally, he has taught as an adjunct faculty member at the American University and several other universities and colleges for many years. Dr. Eappen holds a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University, a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management, and a Bachelor of Nursing. He also has a post-graduate certificate in international health from Central Michigan University and several other certifications from reputed universities worldwide. Dr. Eappen's field of research interest is healthcare innovations, especially healthcare informatics. He has authored numerous publications, including journal articles, book chapters, and books.
